1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Shelf Life ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Pressware, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") regarding your use of the App.
2. Description of Service
Shelf Life is a free iOS application designed to help users track their personal book reading backlog. The App allows you to:
- Add and organize books you want to read
- Track your reading progress and history
- Access book metadata from third-party services
- View resale price quotes from third-party services
The App is provided free of charge and is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.
3. User Responsibilities
As a user of Shelf Life, you agree to:
- Use the App only for its intended purpose of tracking personal book collections
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Not use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
- Not use the App to transmit any malicious code or harmful content
- Maintain responsibility for backing up your own data
You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of any data you store within the App. We do not guarantee the preservation of your data and are not liable for any data loss.
4. Third-Party Services
Shelf Life integrates with the following third-party services to enhance functionality:
- OpenLibrary - Used to retrieve book metadata including titles, authors, cover images, and publication information
- BooksRun - Used to provide resale price quotes for books
These third-party services are governed by their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or reliability of data provided by these services. Your use of features that rely on third-party services is subject to those services' respective terms and conditions.
5. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, and user interface, is owned by Pressware, LLC and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include the right to:
- Modify or create derivative works based on the App
- Distribute, sell, or sublicense the App
- Use the App's name, logo, or branding for any purpose without prior written consent
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The App will meet your specific requirements
- The App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- The results obtained from the App will be accurate or reliable
- Any errors in the App will be corrected
Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the App is done at your own discretion and risk.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PRESSWARE, LLC, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of data or information
- Loss of profits or revenue
- Business interruption
- Personal injury or property damage
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory under which such damages are sought, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Since Shelf Life is provided free of charge, you agree that our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (which is zero dollars).
8. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of the App after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically to stay informed of any updates.
If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you should discontinue your use of the App.
9. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of Georgia.
10. Apple-Specific Terms
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and Pressware, LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Pressware, LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content.
- Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Pressware, LLC, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
