Pressware, LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Shelf Life mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
Information We Collect
Shelf Life is designed with your privacy in mind. The App collects and stores the following information that you voluntarily provide:
- Book information (titles, authors, ISBN numbers, page counts, genres)
- Reading progress and status
- Dates when books were added to your library
- Any notes or custom data you enter about your books
We do not require account registration, and we do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or location unless you contact us directly for support.
How We Use Your Information
All book and reading data you enter is used solely to provide the App's core functionality:
- Displaying and organizing your personal book library
- Tracking your reading progress and "freshness" status
- Syncing your data across your devices when you enable iCloud sync
We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the App's features to you.
Third-Party Services
Shelf Life integrates with the following third-party services to enhance functionality:
- OpenLibrary API (openlibrary.org): When you scan an ISBN barcode, the App sends the ISBN number to OpenLibrary to retrieve book metadata (title, author, cover image, etc.). OpenLibrary is operated by the Internet Archive. Please review their terms and privacy policy for information about how they handle this data.
- BooksRun API (booksrun.com): When you request resale price quotes for a book, the App sends the ISBN number to BooksRun to retrieve pricing information. Please review their privacy policy for information about how they handle this data.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit): If you enable iCloud sync, your book data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is associated with your Apple ID and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal data to any other third parties.
Data Storage and Security
Your book library and reading data are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data remains on your device and under your control.
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is also stored in your personal iCloud account, encrypted and protected by Apple's security infrastructure. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
We do not operate servers that store your personal data. We do not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or any form of usage monitoring within the App.
Children's Privacy
Shelf Life is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address below, and we will take steps to delete such information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
