Overview

BurnRate ("the App") is a macOS menu bar application developed by Tom McFarlin ("we," "us," or "our"). This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.

The short version: We don't collect any data. Period.

Information We Collect

None. The App does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or usage data.

How the App Works

The App operates entirely on your device and performs the following functions:

Reads local Claude Code session data — The App reads session files from your local Claude Code data directory (~/.claude/) to calculate token usage, message counts, and session information.
Displays usage in the menu bar — The App shows token usage statistics, per-model breakdowns, and session counts in a native macOS menu bar popover.
All processing is local — All calculations and data parsing happen on your machine. No data is sent anywhere.

Data Storage

The App does not store any data of its own. It reads existing Claude Code session files on your machine in real time. No data is copied, cached, or persisted by BurnRate.

No data is stored on external servers. No accounts are created. No analytics are collected.

Network Usage

The App makes no network requests whatsoever. BurnRate does not:

Send any data to our servers (we don't operate any)
Connect to any external services
Include any analytics or telemetry
Phone home or check for updates over the network
Share any information with third parties

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The App reads only local files created by Claude Code on your machine.

Children's Privacy

The App does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since we don't collect any data, changes would likely only clarify our practices or reflect changes in legal requirements.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. The App reads only existing local files and does not create or modify any data.
